Swine Flu - Testing in Chennai

Pic courtesy: WWW

With Swine Flu cases going up in India, I was checking to see testing centers in Chennai, my hometown.

Was shocked to see only King Institute in the list !

King Institute of Preventive Medicine Chennai
Guindy,
Chennai – 600032

(24/7 Service) 044-22501706

Chennai city has over 5 Million people ! God save the city..in the event of a Swine Flu pandemic !!

What about the other corners of Tamil Nadu ?

Where will the samples from there go for testing ?

Narayan - just an fyi... we have three centers in Chennai.
1. King Institute of Preventive Medicine (24/7 Service)
2. Communicable Diseases Hospital (Thodaiarpet)
3. Government General Hospital (Kilpauk)

To answer your question... yes, this is surely not enough in the event of a Swine Flu pandemic. God save Indians...

Pvt Hospitals at the moment have not been authorized by the Govt to do any testing. The reason being given is that the place where the testing is done has to maintain some standards - so that they don't become the source of infection for the others. There have been talks going on about how and when to rope in the pvt hospitals for this.
