Hindu Munnani vs Khushboo

Read in 'IndiaGlitz' that Khushboo is in trouble again. Mr.Gurumoorthy a Hindu Munnani activist has lodged a complaint before a civil court alleging that Khushboo was seen sitting with her chappals in front of idols of goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswathy and Parvathy, during Pooja for the 'muhurat' at Chennai on 22 November.

My question to Mr.Gurumoorthy:

Don't we have 1,000,000,000,000,000 other issues that the Hindu Munnani can fight for? Can you please work on those rather than worrying about 'Chappals' ?

Do you remove your chappals or your shoes in a MTC bus just because there is a photo of a God/Goddess in the front near the driver?

IMHO - The Goddesses will be happy if people are pure at heart!
They won't bother about the chappals.

Yeah, I felt the same when I read this on Indiaglitz. Kushboo is being drawn into every controversy possibly. A gentle remark would have been sufficient.

Ramesh - there is currently an uproar in Pfafftown about this photo, for which we have now reserved Friday night as a night of heavy discussion.

My take on this was - had it been the sanctum sanctorum of a Hindu Temple, then she may be wrong, but not when its a dais.

People need to ask -- had this been the prime minister/president/chief minister or a leading actor, would they file a case?

you may get a slew of comments from my friends. Just in case, if some of them turns out to be irate, dont judge them by just the comment. They are very intelligent and nice people.

ganesh

I cannot agree more with you on this!

Why target film personalities, why not take on heavy weight politicians!

My take, they dont have the guts to do it.

I understand how you see it.

But:
There is a reason why Lata Mangeshkar leave her slippers outside the stage/dias where she sings...

There is a reason that millions of Hindus do not enter a temple or touch photos of deities before taking bath...

There is a reason why we most Indians are taught NOT to keep our leg straight up towards elders in front of us....

There is a reason most Hindus do not wear chappal (not one that some use for internal use only and not even to the toilets) inside their kitchen, even if there is no pooja room in the kitchen....

There is a reason we dont sit cross legged in front of older and respected humans in front of us (or even beside us)....

There is a reason why Hindus do not wear chappals while taking "mangaLaarathi" even when they are getting their new car blessed by temple priests....

There is always a reason behind every belief system that has evolved over many thousands of years among Hindus...

Our education system has only helped us in getting alienated from our own belief systems which has been part of our culture. Especially the english education, and that's a known fact.

One view of looking at this issue is by respecting the Indian culture and the other is to see it from our westernized education in India. Majority of Hindus in India will see Khushboo's gesture as disrespect to the idols that those who would have come to the gathering, consider respectful.

What if the statement had come from someone other than a Hindu Munnani supporter?

Will anyone spit inside a church or mosque? No not in the Sanctum Sanctorum....but 10 feet away!!!!!
:) (you never know if Khusbhoo had walked over some spit before she went over the dias.)

Sometimes, I wonder if such things are 'stage managed'..otherwise, why would a long lost actress try to gain the attention of media every now and then? sounds similar to a 'political drama' to me...

The thing to be noted is if anyone other than kushboo had become victim even then its punishable. It may have happened in spite of her knowledge I think an humble apology will bring down the matter
