My thoughts:
1. Yes, Experience speaks. I am now in that age range.
2. Both are fresh flowers. Taken on a December morning at Perungalathur Madras, India, in our garden. Camera used Olympus C-2100UZ ( Great camera in my opinion though only 2.1 MP, 10x Optical with IS.
3. My interpretation: a. at 15 you are colourful cheerful..all muscular..all set for life and look impressive. b. at 40 plus still some cheer..look good but become a little smaller ( Unless on Steroids)..caught in all kinds of webs in life..not knowing how to get out...!! In my case ..I've become a CDLA....( Confused Desi living in America ..!)

but did you notice one thing, in both phases, the flower is fresh :)

At 40, you have company too...in the same boat..!! Look at the mosquito...!
nice interpretations. What I felt was,
"The second flower is also fresh since it is happy to be caught in the web of family life!!"
I remembered reading similar picture interpretations in Psychology..Different views indeed reflecting various mindset..
