sad

====================================================

Forget MCP's Women's Lib etc. this world gives more importance to Mother than to the Father. True or not. This poem is an impact of that thought. This is my first attempt to write something different, so please apologize for the mediocrity.! or errors if any.

Narayanan: very touching indeed. you are right. at one point of time bharathi et al were trying to get equal rights for women, and during that time, the angle was to vision women in a bigger-than-life manner. men were and are just men.
seems funny and almost unreal, but men are actually under-appreciated.

Nice post.

Parivuu kanbithathu
Pirivai thaangathana?

I dont know if its correct but I love writing Tamil poems too though I'm not well versed like you. Any criticism is welcome.

Thala, how to start writing kavidhais. I guess we have to read a lot of these before getting into that league :(

Look at this man who lost his wife
What has he now got in his life?
While his grief is palpable
We wonder who is culpable -
Is it God or is it what we call fate
the one that made his wife "late"
The children now suffer
He has to be their buffer
And nothing can compensate
The grief which will only abate
Over a long period of time.
Indeed life turns on a dime!

OMG...!!!

U made me spell out these words.. :-) I never used to say these.

Nice post.. Almost got me to tears in the following lines..

'Aivarum ingu aaraaga alugaiyilae...'
'sathi seitha un peyaraa kadavul ingu?...'

Great lines..

By the way.. which tamil font/formatting u r using in Unicode? it gets tumbled up in Firefox... i had to switch to IE to view this post. And i hate switching to that thing.. :-)

Ramesh,

very good one....

Preserving the original content of your lines, I revamped the middle paragraph as below with the addition of the line about "எழு பிறவி வினை களையாமல்"..this way you have every number covered from 4 through 8

what do I mean by that line about 7 piravi? The late Paramacharya of Kanchi has said this in one discourse -- as much as the woman speaks about liberation, freedom etc. and complains that man is not giving her equality and justice, she should note that once she passes away, the man cannot do the homams, yagnams, etc. In other words, with her demise, his right to do those to get rid of his sins is washed away.....

Mother is the most supreme being of all, it is said that God cannot be everywhere and thats why he cast himself into the many mothers in the universe. Shankar's father (lawyer shankar) told me one day that such is the significance of the mother that she gets "40-60 Pindams" in a sraartham as compared with the very few for a father..

"onrukku ondrendru ( 2 kids)
irandai thaan ketten naan
muthevarum vaazhtha (with blessings)
naankai thandhu vittu"

hope it makes sense ;)
