Well said venkitu ! In the name of "cultural policing" there is too much intrusion in privacy.
Having said this, I think Kushboo was still wrong in certain things she said because she had no role in being a spokesperson for the tamil women .

Looks like some people waited to give back in the same terms as the Nadigar sangam did to Thankar Bachan, in the process Tamil Kalacharam and Panbadu became the scapegoat.
Thanks Mr.Narayanan for bringing this up. I was just hoping if somebody could address this issue 'aptly'.
Kushboos's opinions are understandable. In a time when there are numerous sexually transmitted diseases and cases of teenage pregnancy, advising to have 'safe sex' is only sensible.
Infact her reply was, I guess, in response to a survey which showed considerable percentage of the respondents having acknowledged pre-marital sex.
Do you think the people raising hue and cry over this are really bothered about the culture? Its all for cheap publicity - yet again!!
just hopped into ur blog from somewhere... very well written... but then the media needs something so that it can be on top of the headlines (which would have otherwise been ganguly-chappell, bcci elections, blah blah)...
and i wonder, how much time and money these people spend on the press conferences... after kushboo's words, thamizh cinema sangam called for a press conference and said that it was a personal view of kushboo and cinema starts needn't be pulled into this and so on... and so many reporters spend time on all this crap... anyways, thats MEDIA...

I am ever so grateful to these guys who've gone to the extent of printing posters to save the Tamizh panpaadu. Its not working, I am trying hard to say something sarcastic and funny here, and I am just getting more and more angry. I think I should stop talking about Tamizh kalaachaaram until I totally calm down.

The recent incidents in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere in India is proving that it is still Man’s world out there and double standards are galore..
1. Sania Mirza dress controversy: Why her in-court attire anyones problems? Never heard any murmur about Irfan Pathan or Zaheer Khan, who frequently appear shirtless during work outs.
2. Dress Code for Anna University Students (read girls): No Jeans, no T-Shirts, and only ‘loose’ kurtas. My name sake Anna University knows what is best for the students!!!
3. Kushboo utterances on sexual behavior: Why are people picking on Kushoo? If what Kushboo said is so bad then the entire article / magazine should be picked up on too.
4. Police crack down on a private party in Park Hotel, Chennai: Police Chief becomes the moral conscious keeper of Chennai. He was going to search for the people who were kissing in a private party and arrest them. Also, was going to go after the women who were found drinking in that party. (It is OK for men to drink)
5. The list goes on..
It is unfortunate that only a small educated section of the society is raising such questions, the majority of the mass are conspicuously silent on this sexist moral policing. The sad aspect of all this is that majority of Tamil Media is fanning the flames instead of putting it out..
It is a simple low budget story.
Thangar was mad at actors and actresses for ramping up production cost; vented a bit on this using the most common language on the most accepted subject (Actually, what he said is something like this "women who acted mainly for money were like prostitutes."). Looks like Kushboo spearheaded the protest, Thangar apologized, but waited for his turn to get back on her. Thangar is backed by Dalit Panthers (ice hockey team ??) and Ramdoss (the only true tamizhan in the entire world !!). Gathers supporters, prints posters and then says "Entire tamizhnadu is now against Kushboo". Kush calls Captain, he immediately summons a few statisticians and ask them to check the facts. They come with a pretty convincing number. Calls Kush and advices her the Ramana way, but finally says "get the hell out of here, you are pretty much on your own."
Kush renders apology (On Jayalalitha's advice !! ??). Tamizh panpadu is saved.
On the serious side, India Today survey has some startling facts. Considerable number of women think that pre-marital sex is ok. This is not the first time such a survey has come out, but this time around it is being talked much more widely, mainly because of this controversy. I'm not sure whether it is a attitudinal change or more women talking about this because of greater freedom of expression. The fact is; pre-marital sex is happenning and will continue to rise. The importance of sex education can never be over emphasized and our health department has a greater role to play. The union health ministry should be spearheading this campaign; wait a minute - who is the union health minister, is it not Anbumani, son of Ramadoss. Dude, what is your father doing on that side of the fence.

Thuluvatho illamai and 7-G rainbow colony were super hit movies which was watched by tamilians all over the world which had pre marital sex and no one opposed.why?
It is very unfortunate that TN is getting shredded in the hands of DMK and ADMK.This is nothing but a war between them.
Kushboo went from SUN TV to Jaya TV and KK waqs waiting for an opportuniy to pull her down and this statement was all they needed.
And, ADMK[JJ] immediately summoned her from Mumbai to come back and issue a statement to counter this.

this whole Kushboo issue.....just an opportunity for the politicians to beguile the innocent mass...there are scenes in Tamil cinema where respect for women nowhere...Suhasini Maniratnam is one of the few who speaks for the cause of women...her service to womenfolk through "Ladies Junction" Raj TV Programme commendable....why making big issues of her support to her collegue ....are there not other serious and sinister issues to be handled by the political groups....
