Dont worry Venkittu Sir, things are changing. These things are coming down to a saturation, and will be completely out.

Good one.
Just today I was arguing with my Eritrean colleague on how life offers no choices. Seems like there is no choice even before the conception of life.

I hope these incidents reduce soon.

Hi Narayanan! I'm unable to read your tamil posts from here (home). I have Win 98 as my OS. Could you help as to where can I download the necessary Tamil Fonts? Thanks! :)

Sir, i am sure things are changing, but may not be with the pace i(we) wish/expect...'akkavukku sandhosham, thambi venum kettachu', line was the one made me felt very bad....

Narayanan!
I have heard a lot about female infanticide, infact I am from a city that has very high numbers for this crime (SALEM). It is really sad that we still consider the female child a curse...

Unfortunatesly, this still happens and happens in significant numbers..

very sad!
people, check out the movie called "matrubhumi"...
it talks about a nation without women.......about a scary future when the sex ratio is pathetic......

that is beacuse of the society.....stupid customs......

Also, Its no longer legal to know the baby's sex beforehand in India. So I guess this is abt past.. not the present and hopefully not the future :)

Hey bro,

Its getting changed these days, still people are not so happy when a baby girl is born. But abortion in this regard is a very rare case.

neenga romba anniyannaala baathikka pattirukeengannu theriyuthu ;-P

nice, if that word can apply here. It is sad that things like this still happen. Some villages are already bearing the brunt of their karmas. They can't find brides for their sons.

My thoughts here

nice one narayanan,
Imagine a future where there is many men and only few women, tough for these guys to get married ,women will demand manythings apart for dowry, females will rule the world :)
Looking at disproportionate ratio of male vs femal population, this might become true .

There is another india whose misfit beliefs, customs, social pressures of which we have no awareness about. Dedicated efforts in educating women, strong punitive measures against dowry and general poverty upliftment is the only answer. But easier said than done.

Folks,
Many of you are upbeat, some of you are hopeful and some of you feel sad about it.

MHO - Even Mental Mastur***on is bad. What I mean is...even if people think....'Umm...a girl child...' it is wrong.!

The uneducated/lower middle/some of middle class people go for abortion agents, upper class so called elite - also do it.! So..whom can we blame.?

Why ? - Is is the difficulty in raising a girl in a society like India?

I am glad the governments are doing their part...of advertisements etc...but implementation is very important.

We all know of all the laws and how they are all broken easily...with some small bribe.

I am not upbeat about this issue..I feel these do continue at all levels and I hope and pray these come to an end.!

Please read this link when you find some time.!

Heart-rending, told in a child's innocent, matter of fact way.

This is an issue close to my heart. Don't know what's the solution but I try to do my bit by not allowing anyone to speak deprecatingly of the girl child.

Here's my take

Regards,
Priya.
