Fake Medicines !

I am watching TV channels from 'Chennai', with stories about fake medicines. It's a scary thought. I read that even popular medicines like 'Benadryl', the widely known antihistamine have been faked.

It's a shame that these things happen. The Government should treat these issues at par with 'Terrorism' and punish the culprits.

I remember the baby food incident in China a few years back. Not sure how China is handling all these issues considering the complaints that come out every now and then about 'Lead Contamination' etc. coming from Chinese made products. But I did read somewhere that China executed a few of the convicts in the baby food case.

Now, coming to where I live now, I was shocked to read this in NY Times today. Shocked because I've been prescribed the same GLENMARK brand Nitroglycerin that this article talks about. GLENMARK Generics sells these drugs but the parent GLENMARK Pharmaceuticals is in India ! Luckily, I haven't had a chance to use it but now I am concerned....I'll call my Cardio on Monday the first thing.....

They did not relieve chest pain, he recalled, and they did not cause side effects she had previously experienced. She then gave the pills, a bottle of Glenmark tablets, to Dr. Lever. Glenmark did not respond to a query from a reporter seeking comment about the matter.

I am a happy man today. In fact 'Very Happy'.

I have to applaud President Obama and everyone who helped support the Healthcare reform bill that passed today !

'Great achievement President Obama and team'.

I was eager to see what the top Economists would write about this bill and here is what Paul Krugman wrote in NY Times.

The Democrats have done it. The House has passed the Senate version of health reform, and an improved version will be achieved through reconciliation.

This is, of course, a political victory for President Obama, and a triumph for Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker. But it is also a victory for America’s soul. In the end, a vicious, unprincipled fear offensive failed to block reform. This time, fear struck out.

A lot of Tamil movies these days, have poses and dances that are Rated-X !! Yet, thanks to the money and muscle power, these movies don't get a 'A' certificate and people end up ( idiots) watching them with families. It includes films of yours as well. So please don't talk about the stupid TV Channels !

Also remember, you and your association cried wolf when 'Bhuvaneswari' accused the actresses about prostitution ! You all even went to the level of arresting the editors of the magazine that published what 'Bhuvaneswari' said. Why don't you guys support your member 'Ranjitha'.

A request for AR Rahman

Though I am not a big fan of AR Rahman, I like his music. Always liked his music right from 'Roja' days.

I was one of the several thousands who watched 'Roja' the first day it was released. It was an Independence day, of a forgotten year at 'Udhayam Theater' in now Chennai, then Madras.

Oh boy..did everyone scream for all the songs, especially for 'Chinna Chinna Asai'. What a simple sweet melody.

Fast forward...... several years...to 2010. Where is AR Rahman today?

Oscar winner, Grammy winner, most admired Music Director in India, Most wanted Music Director.etc..etc. ......But...................

Somewhere down the line, ARR began to complicate his music, in the name of technology, digital sound !

When was the last time we heard a simple melody from ARR, by simple I mean a song like 'Chinna Chinna Asai'.

These days, ARR is into multiple tracks, all kinds of sound bytes ( nice to hear though). Every song is too complicated. Melody lost in the bargain ?

PS - The Title song of VTV is a decent one, but its not a great melody IMHO.

Dinamalar - A Bundle of Lies !

Time and again, I've written about the 'Toothless nature' of Indian Media !

Not only are they 'Toothless' but they are (mostly) a 'Bundle of lies and joke'.

The report below is an example. This is from a leading Tamil Newspaper 'Dinamalar'.

This report is about Nithyananda and another guy whose intimate videos are in YOUTUBE.

According to this report, the YOUTUBE servers jammed because of heavy traffic !

This is nonsense. I didn't see any reports like this other than the one by DINAMALAR !

Maybe Dinamalar spoke to Google and got this information !
