Pankaj Udhas - Chahat Desh Se

I got introduced to Ghazals way back in 1984-1985 when I was in Bombay.

The first Ghazal that I listened to was by Pankaj Udhas and since then, I am a big fan of him.

Wowwww!!

I adore his voice as well, and the kind of intensity and peace that he brings abt to anything that he voices, is indeed amazing.

Aur Ahista Keejiye Baatein is my all time fav.

sirjee,
Gazals are the shayari about the beloved.. it could be her, sharaab, gham or anything you are passionate about.. Gulaam alijee, Jagjeet singjee, Pankaj udhaas jee etc has rendered a lot of beutiful ones for us... from hungama he kyo to kagaz ki kashthi to thum nahi gum nahi..

Some how, I liked Gulam alijee's style of singing..

thanks for a nice reminder..

I was planning to blog about ghazals one of these days myself :-)

For some reason, Jagjit has monopolized my mind when it comes to ghazals.. despite listening to Pankaj Udhas, Ghulam Ali, Hariharan...

ghazals, some of pankaj udhas' ghazals are really memorable but rather than the recent albums i like some of the older ones, like 'Chitthi aai hain, watan se chitthi aai hain...,"(from the film, 'Naam') also there is this lovely song, 'main deewana hoon, mujhe aashiqui ne maara hain...," (from the movie Yeh Dillagi, released way back in nineties) i am also an ardent admirer of Jagjit Singh...his ghazals in the movie, Arth are simply remarkable..i ve no words.
