Weekend Audioblog - Vaazhvu Chezhikka Varam

Prem Abraham and IBM Visu sent me MP3 versions of the 'Vazhvu Chezhikka varam thaa' song. Both were amazing compositions.

JO sang my composition while Ambi sang his own composition. Both are superb. Please enjoy and let them know your thoughts.

I couldn't upload IBM Visu's version. Audioblog didn't cooperate. Once I fix it I'll post it. I'm still waiting for Ganesh's version. I'll post it once I get it.

I wrote this on Saturday and requested GANESH to compose a tune and sing it. I've also requested JO to sing my composition. I am eager to see how it shapes up.

In the meantime, why not compose a tune, sing it and post it in your blog as an audio blog !!

Deva Gaanam

I seen Mr.Deva during the 70's and early 80's when I used to go to All India Radio Madras. He used to compose music for songs that would be broadcast as 'Mellisai'. He used to walk around with a White Dhoti and kurta with a harmonium in his hands.

Then all of a sudden he came into the Tamil film industry and rocked it with some wonderful hits like 'Baasha', 'Nerukku Ner' to name a few. He has had hundreds of hits including one of my favorites 'Pammal K.Sammandham'.

He has popularized the Madras Gaana Pattu which I think is great. I like it for one reason, it reaches the masses.

As a tribute to Mr.Deva, I've done this small piece today.

Please enjoy and if possible listen to a few of Deva's Gaana songs with an open mind! I am sure you'll enjoy them. Long live Mr.Deva.

Funny email ids

My first email id was a Yahoo Id that was really bland. I mean had my name with an underscore etc.

Then I thought I'd make my id more user friendly. I couldn't find anything that I liked other than specialdosa.

I see a lot of people smile when I tell them my Yahoo id - specialdosa.

When I got a Gmail invite I tried the same and got it.

So here I am, with specialdosa as my yahoo and gmail ids !

Do you have any funny email ids? I know my nephew has sadadosai.

Friday Photo - Farewell Bin Shu

My friend Bin Lin Shu is on the far left. Bin is a computer geek and an excellent Photographer. Some of my earlier Friday photos were Bin's contributions.

Bin moved to Canada last week. I wish him and his family the very best.

Next to Bin in the middle is my best friend and mentor , Iqbal Bukhari. Iggy, as we fondly call him, is a Desi, born in India but raised in the US. Very nice person and now my boss as well.

Next to Iggy..is ......you guessed right..That is me..! Someone told me that I looked like Pak. President Musharaf !!

Very shameful incident indeed and needs to be condemned. Please express your feelings via an email to Southern Railway here .

Superstitions about Eclipse

Read this interesting piece on the Solar Eclipse in THE HINDU a few days back.

I don't believe in superstitions. Comeon, we live in 2005 and not 1605 !
